The first National Youth conference organized by CCBI was held at Shofar Convention Centre, Gurugram- Haryana from 21st to 26th of October 2018.All together there were 350 participants from 13 Regions of India.
The Archdiocese of Gandhinagar was presented by 4 youth, namely Vipul, Sahil, Jessika, Ankita and accompanied by Fr.Kiran and Sr.Pushpa. The focus of the conference was mainly on the ongoing synod on youth in Rome. The theme of the conference was “Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment”. Archbishop Emeritus Vincent hoisted the Flag and declared the youth conference open, followed by the Eucharistic celebration.
On the first day Mr. Ravi gave the inaugural lecture. He said that God has a purpose for each one of us. He shared his own life experience how God has His own way to lead us.
The conference mainly dealt with three parts.
– The first was devoted to examining thoroughly the actual situation of young people today.
-The second is related to young people’s understanding of the key elements of the theme and the synod.
-The third is aimed at engaging young people in the Church’s formative and pastoral activity in India.
The activities were done in the groups .There were 10 groups and choice based workshops in 12 groups. They were very informative and enlightening. The youth were actively involved in all the activities. They gave valuable suggestions to make themselves part of the Church, which will be soon published in the form of a documents.
Every day evening there was a cultural programme based on biblical theme. We, the Western Region performed our culture and heritage through Garba and Timely dance. We also took active part in liturgical celebration. It was well planned and organized by CCBI youth commission. We all were privileged to participate. We all are filled with enthusiasm and zeal.
We, the youth promised that this youth conference surely would bear fruits in our participation in the Church activities. We are grateful to our Archbishop Thomas Macwan and the youth commission secretary Fr. Xavier James for giving us this great opportunity. Thank you very much.
