Women and Girl Child Commission

Women and Girl Child Commission

Dignity, Empowerment, and Protection Rooted in the Gospel

The Women and Girl Child Commission is one of the most vital ministries of our Diocese. Inspired by Jesus’ compassion and respect for women, this commission seeks to uplift, protect, and empower women and girls in every sphere of life—spiritually, emotionally, socially, and economically.

It is a mission of restoration, healing, and hope, ensuring that every woman and girl is treated with the dignity she deserves as a beloved daughter of God.

Our Vision: A Dignified and Equal Place for Women

We envision a Church and society where women and girls are free from discrimination, abuse, and exploitation. A world where they are educated, protected, respected, and included as equal participants in the family, Church, and community.

Inspired by Proverbs 31, which speaks of the strength, wisdom, and value of a virtuous woman, the commission strives to bring that vision into reality through concrete actions.

Key Areas of Focus

• Awareness and Education: The commission regularly organizes seminars and awareness programs on women’s rights, gender equality, domestic violence, and legal literacy. Girls and women are educated to know their rights and stand up with confidence and courage.

• Self-Help and Skill Training: Through vocational training, self-help groups, and entrepreneurship programs, the commission equips women and girls—especially those from rural and tribal areas—with the skills they need to earn a living and lead a dignified life.

• Counseling and Support: The commission provides a compassionate ear and professional help to women and girls facing domestic issues, emotional distress, or abuse. We create safe spaces for healing, listening, and restoration.

• Faith Formation and Leadership: Special faith-based programs for women help them grow spiritually and take up leadership roles in parishes and the wider Church. Women are encouraged to serve as catechists, animators, and pastoral workers.

• Girl Child Protection and Development: The commission promotes education for the girl child, works against child marriage, and collaborates with parents and schools to build a safer and more inclusive environment for every girl.

A Mission of Justice and Mercy

The commission is not only a ministry—it is a mission of justice. It gives voice to the voiceless, strength to the weak, and light to those who feel forgotten or diminished. Like Jesus who uplifted the Samaritan woman and stood by the woman caught in adultery, this ministry stands with those most vulnerable.

In the Church of today, women are not only recipients—they are leaders, ministers, teachers, caregivers, and prophets of hope. This commission ensures that every woman is seen, heard, and valued.

Every Woman Is a Reflection of God’s Beauty

From mothers and widows, to working women and single girls, to nuns and catechists—each one brings something irreplaceable to the Body of Christ. Their strength, gentleness, and deep faith build up our communities and enrich our Church.

We believe that when a woman is empowered, an entire family and community rises with her.
