Proclamation, Pontifical Mission Societies (POPF), and Holy Childhood Commission

Spreading the Light of Christ to Every Heart

This commission brings together three key areas of that mission: Proclamation of the Gospel, support of global missionary work through the Pontifical Mission Societies, and nurturing the missionary spirit in children through the Holy Childhood Association.

It is a ministry that ignites hearts, awakens faith, and extends the love of Christ to the ends of the earth—beginning right here in our Diocese.

1. Proclamation of the Gospel: A Living Witness of Christ

Evangelisation is not just preaching—it is a way of life. The commission encourages every baptised person to become a bearer of the Good News, not only through words but through love, service, and witness.

We conduct:

  • Mission retreats and renewal programs in parishes and mission centres
  • Door-to-door visits, outreach activities, and public Gospel events
  • Faith-sharing and prayer groups to nurture personal encounters with Jesus
  • Training for lay missionaries, catechists, and youth evangelizers

As St. Paul said,

“Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel!” (1 Cor 9:16)

The Gospel must be proclaimed with joy, urgency, and compassion—especially in places of indifference, injustice, or despair.

2. Pontifical Mission Societies (POPF): United with the Universal Church

As part of the global network of missionary support under the Holy Father, our Diocese participates actively in the Pontifical Mission Societies (POPF), including:

  • Propaganda Fide (evangelisation and mission territories)
  • Society of St. Peter the Apostle (support for seminarians and religious formation)
  • Missionary Union of Priests and Religious (spiritual formation of missionaries)
  • Holy Childhood Association (children helping children in mission lands)

We encourage every parish to observe Mission Sunday, collect offerings for the missions, and pray for missionaries worldwide. Through this, we remain united with the universal Church and express our solidarity with mission churches across continents.

3. Holy Childhood Association: Forming Little Missionaries

Children have generous hearts and a deep capacity for faith. Through the Holy Childhood Association, we help children discover their role as little missionaries—called to love, pray, and share with other children, especially those in need.

We organise:

  • Mission animation programs in schools
  • Prayer campaigns and mission rosary events
  • Creative activities, competitions, and mission clubs
  • Child-to-child solidarity projects for education, nutrition, and basic needs

The motto of the Holy Childhood Association is:

“Children helping children”
and we make that a living reality.

A Commission That Burns with Missionary Fire

This is not just a commission—it is a fire, a movement, a response to Christ’s command:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19)

We believe the Church is missionary by her very nature. Every person, every parish, and every child has a role in the great mission of love that Christ entrusted to us.

Whether by crossing oceans or knocking on a neighbour’s door, whether by preaching, praying, or giving, we are all called to be missionaries.
