Catechetics, Bible, and Children’s Ministry Commission

Forming Faith, Planting the Word, and Guiding Young Souls

The Catechetics, Bible, and Children’s Ministry Commission stands at the heart of the Church’s mission to evangelize and educate in faith. This ministry focuses on deepening the knowledge and love of the Word of God, forming catechists to teach the faith effectively, and nurturing children to grow in Christ from a young age.

It is a ministry of sowing seeds—seeds of truth, love, and discipleship—that will bear fruit in the lives of countless children, families, and future leaders of the Church.

Our Threefold Focus

This commission combines three deeply interconnected missions:

1. Catechetics (Faith Education):
The Church has the sacred task of handing on the faith from generation to generation. We organize catechism programs in parishes and schools, provide training and resources to catechists, and develop contextualized teaching methods that speak to children and adults alike. The goal is not just to teach doctrine, but to help people encounter Christ personally.

2. Bible Ministry:
The Word of God is “living and active” (Heb 4:12), and this ministry brings that Word into hearts and homes. Bible Sundays, scriptural seminars, Bible quizzes, and Gospel sharing programs are conducted regularly to promote familiarity with Scripture. We work to ensure that every Catholic knows the Bible—not just in mind, but in life.

3. Children’s Ministry:
Children are not just the Church of tomorrow—they are the Church of today. Through child-friendly liturgies, faith animation, storytelling, creative arts, and children’s retreats, we help children encounter Jesus as their friend, shepherd, and Saviour. We pay special attention to their emotional and spiritual development.

Training and Resource Development

We believe that good catechesis depends on well-formed catechists. The commission conducts regular training programs, workshops, and refresher courses for catechists. We also assist in developing and distributing localized catechism books and visual aids that reflect our cultural and pastoral context.

Digital tools, activity-based learning, and storytelling are increasingly used to make faith education engaging and effective for the modern generation.

Journeying with Families

We also understand that faith begins at home. Therefore, our programs actively involve parents, encouraging them to be the first catechists to their children. Family Bible reading and home-based faith formation are part of our vision.

When the home and parish work together, the Church becomes a true school of discipleship.

A Mission that Builds the Future Church

When children are formed well, families are strengthened, vocations are inspired, and the Church grows with roots deep in Christ. Through this ministry, we seek to raise a generation that is not only educated but evangelized—disciples who know the faith, love the Church, and serve the world.
