The Pilar Sisters Association began in 1988 as collaborators with the Pilar Fathers.

The 50 sisters today work with the Pilar Fathers in the states of Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Goa. While they have a common thrust with the Pilar Fathers, their specific area of work is with women and children. Their mother house is in Loutulim, Goa and their Novitiate is in Orlim, Goa.

PILAR SISTERS, Asal

The Association of Pilar Sisters is of recent origin, drawing its inspiration from the Missionary Society of St. Francis Xavier (Pilar Fathers). When the latter accepted to open a center in Sabarkantha, they proposed that the Pilar Sisters collaborate in the mission. The Archbishop willingly agreed. After some months of initiation and exposure to the missions of Gandhinagar, the SMMI Sisters welcomed them to Himmatnagar from where the Pilar Sisters embarked on their apostolate in and around Asal and Khiloda. The Sisters are presently staying in a rented house in a village from where they go forth for their Socio-Pastoral ministries. Their Convent near the centre of the Pilar Fathers at Khiloda is under construction.
