Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga

Franciscan Sisters of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, is a Catholic community of religious Congregation. It was founded in 1775 at Puducherry, India.

Leading a regular life of the Third Order of St. Francis Assisi, the members of the Congregation profess three vows, live as communities. They engage themselves in multifaceted apostolates with the preferential option aiming at giving fuller life to the oppressed and the poor having in mind the interventional needs of the society and the mission needs of the Catholic Church throughout the world. St. Aloysius Gonzaga Convent, Mehsana

The Principal of St. Xavier’s School at Mehsana, felt the need of trained Sisters to teach especially in the in the English medium section of the school. Archbishop Stanislaus Fernandes, SJ accepted the request and invited the Franciscan Sisters of St. Alosyius Gonzaga for the school and Socio-Pastoral ministries. The congregation readily accepted the new calling and Rev. Sister A. Mary Stella, Superior General sent her delegates to the Archdiocese of Gandhinagar to discuss and confirm the place, ministry and the arrival of the Sisters. The first batch of four Sisters arrived in the Archdiocese on the 19th of July, 2013. They reside at JVK, Pethapur for their first missionary task of learning the local Gujarati language.
