Vadgam, Our Lady of Lourdes Church

A family from Vadgam taluka, settled elsewhere, had accepted the Faith. They encouraged the Fathers to visit the villages of Vadgam. A few Balvadis were opened. The leaders of Dalit communities wanted more and requested Fr. Isidore Almeida of Palanpur to open a similar centre in Vadgam. A small meeting of leaders with Bishop Stanislaus Fernandes that was planned turned out to be a gathering of a few hundreds. Thereafter, small projects to empower the community with various skills were initiated by Fr. Isidore Almeida. A piece of land has been bought in Limboi village near Vadgam and the Parish house and boys’ boarding are established. The Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany are collaborating in this mission and have started a School with both Gujarati and English mediums. The parish currently has about 8 families.
