Media and Information Commission

Proclaiming Christ in the Digital Age

In today’s fast-paced digital world, the Church must not only speak but also be seen, heard, and experienced. The Media and Communication Commission is the voice, face, and heartbeat of the Church in the realm of modern media. It strives to tell the story of Jesus and His Church with clarity, creativity, and conviction using every available platform: print, audio, video, and social media.

This ministry is more than technology; it is a mission of evangelisation through communication. It serves the truth, promotes dialogue, and builds communion locally and globally.

Inspired by the Word Made Flesh

The foundation of this ministry lies in the Incarnation:

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14).
God communicated Himself to us not just in words but in person, in time, and culture. The Media Commission seeks to follow this divine model, communicating in ways that are personal, relevant, and incarnational.

Key Areas of Ministry

1. Church News and Public Relations:

The commission documents and shares the activities of the diocese’s events, programs, celebrations, and milestones through newsletters, digital bulletins, press releases, and local newspapers. It ensures the Church’s presence in the public narrative.

2. Digital Evangelisation:

Through curated content—daily Bible verses, reflections, catechetical posts, reels, podcasts, and short films—the commission aims to evangelise through platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, especially among youth.

3. Audio-Visual Content Creation:

The team creates inspiring videos, live-streams liturgies and diocesan functions, and produces interviews, testimonies, and documentaries that reflect the richness of Catholic faith and values.

4. Media Training and Literacy:

Workshops are organised for youth, catechists, and parish teams to become responsible media users and effective digital missionaries. Skills such as photography, graphic design, video editing, and ethical media use are imparted.

5. Crisis Communication and Official Messaging:

During sensitive or challenging times, the commission provides timely and transparent communication, ensuring unity, clarity, and truth in the public voice of the diocese.

Media as Mission, Not Just Method

This ministry is not about glamour or popularity. It is about truth in love. In a world filled with noise, fake news, and distraction, the Church must become a credible, joyful, and courageous communicator of the Gospel. This is the task of the Media Commission to help the Church be heard not only in the pulpit but in every phone, screen, and heart.

As Pope Paul VI said:

“Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers… and if he listens to teachers, it is because they are also witnesses.”

The Media Commission is committed to being that witness.
